Gold Vault Roulette is a shiny twist on classic roulette that randomly adds gold bars to numbers in order to boost the payout of straight-up bets. It’s a game played live over a video stream with a game host and other players. It was previously known as Gold Bar Roulette – a game released in July 2022, but then renamed and rereleased in August 2023.

The Game in Short
Gold Vault Roulette is a simple game that plays a lot like classic roulette (learn how to play roulette here) but comes with a twist on straight-up bets.
In each game round, 5 – 20 gold bars will be revealed. Most commonly, these are worth 50 times the amount you bet but a purple one worth 500x can also appear.
The gold bars are randomly distributed on numbers on the roulette table and replace the payouts of straight-up bets on these numbers.
For instance, if two gold bars that are worth 50x land on number 7, this number would have its payout increased to 100x.
To make up for the higher payouts that gold bars come with, in Gold Vault Roulette, normal straight-up bets pay less than they do in classic roulette games.
Payouts
The payouts in Gold Vault roulette range from 2x – 500x. They are similar to classic roulette as all bets pay the same, except for the straight-up bet. Instead of this bet paying 36 times the amount you stake as it normally does, it either pays 25x, 50x, 100x, 150x, or 500x.
The 25x payout is when you win a straight-up bet without any gold bar on it. 50x is when there is one gold bar, 100x when there are two, 150x when there are three, and 500x when there is a purple one.
The maximum number of gold bars that can stack upon each other is three, whereas the purple bar can’t be stacked with any. This is why a straight-up bet can pay a maximum of 150x with gold bars and 500x with a purple bar.

The RTP in Gold Vault Roulette is 97.03% when betting on a single number and 97.30% when placing any other type of bet. This is a high payback percentage that is about the same as you would find in traditional roulette, as well as most roulette variations.
Fun Factor
I pretty much enjoy all live dealer games that Evolution Gaming comes up with and Gold Vault Roulette isn't necessarily an exception. The game offers its own unique atmosphere and gameplay, which I appreciate as the more variety you have when gambling online, the better.
However, I must say that Gold Vault Roulette isn’t very innovative and I am a little bit disappointed with it as the game’s mechanics are very similar to Lightning Roulette. Evolution has pretty much taken the same concept, reworked it a little, and re-skinned it.
For anyone who has played this game already, Gold Vault Roulette doesn't offer anything new and exciting. It does look fabulous and luxurious though so I do commend Evolution on the design of the studio.
But all in all, I am not sure how much I will be playing this. I might take it for a spin every now and then, but for a 2023 release during a time when new casino games are launched all the time, this doesn't really make the cut.
It's by no means a bad roulette game; it's just very simple and similar to what already exists.
Strategies
A common strategy in Gold Vault Roulette is to place a bet on all single numbers, which will cost 37 bet units since there are 37 numbers in the game. The point of this strategy is to take full advantage of the gold bars as no matter where they drop, the payout will be boosted.
This means that as long as a number with a gold bar is hit, you will win either 50x, 100x, 150x, or 500x depending on the type and number of gold bars appearing on the winning number. This would yield a profit of at least 13 bet units.
However, the drawback, of course, is that in those game rounds where you win on a number without a gold bar, you only win 25x, which means a loss of 12 bet units.
Compared to only betting on a few numbers, it's a low-volatile strategy. You will always win something on every bet and even though you might have a streak where you lose 12 bet units on several rounds, it would normally not take long to hit a 50x or 100x gold bar number, while occasionally also hitting the 150x and 500x.
The direct opposite of this strategy would be to only bet on one number, which would be a highly volatile (high risk, high reward) strategy. On average, you would only win on 1 in 37 game rounds and in order to win more than 25x, you would have to be really lucky for your chosen number to also have a gold bar on it.
However, with this second strategy you could place all 37 bet units on just one number, which means that if you do get lucky and win, you could receive a massive payout.
At the end of the day, there is no strategy in Gold Vault Roulette that would win you more or less money so it doesn’t really matter how you place your bets. The best way to do it is in a way that makes the gameplay experience the most fun for you.
