Mizoram State Lottery: Schemes, Prizes, Results, and Online Alternatives

Mizoram State Lottery is one of the thirteen Government Lotteries in India that have been deemed legal. Currently, 14 schemes are conducted weekly, monthly, and annually by the Institutional Finance and State Lottery (IF&SL), which functions under the administrative control of the Finance Department, Government of Mizoram.

A good thing about Mizoram Lotteries is the availability of tickets in the other Indian States where the lottery is legal. As long as these States do not implement the Lotteries (Regulation) Act to ban the sale of other-State lottery tickets, it is 100% legal to buy an entry and participate in a draw.

For instance, Kerala has already banned the sale of Mizoram lottery tickets whereas Maharashtra, Punjab, Goa, and Sikkim still allow it. However, if you are looking for a better alternative, you can switch to international lotteries. They are available nationwide for all Indian players and can be played online.

Overview of the Mizoram Lottery Schemes and Ticket Prices

The IF&SL conducts 5 weekly draws, 8 monthly draws, and 1 yearly draw under the Rajshree scheme of lotteries. No weekly draws run on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The draw time for all the lotteries, except the annual lottery, is between 5 PM to 8 PM IST. Ticket prices range from ₹10 to ₹250 depending on the lottery you play. Now, let’s discuss the 14 Mizoram lottery schemes in detail.

Rajshree Magic Weekly Series

The IF&SL runs 5 Rajshree Magic draws – Magic 50 on Monday, Magic 100 on Wednesday, Magic 50 Guru on Thursday, Magic 30 on Saturday, and Magic 20 on Sunday.

Tickets are priced according to the draw name. For instance, the cost per ticket for Rajshree Magic 50 draws would be ₹50 while that for Rajshree Magic 20 would be ₹20.

Word of Caution

The Director of the Lottery Department issued a Public Notice in March 2021 calling out on sellers of fake lottery tickets and publishers of their results in the name of Mizoram State Lotteries.

To stay away from scamsters, the Director has appealed to lotto players to follow only the official website and a few other websites and channels that have been authorized to publish the results. These sites are as follows:

Furthermore, I have noticed multiple websites publishing results of three daily draws named Love Morning, Prospect Day and Hawk Evening, which bear the logo of the Mizoram State Government Lottery. Check the screenshots below:

Love-Morning-Mizoran-state-lottery
prospect-day-Mizoran-state-lottery
hawk-evening-Mizoran-state-lottery

Each of these draws is supposed to run thrice every day from Monday through Sunday either at 11:55 AM, 4:00 PM or 8:00 PM. Tickets have been priced at ₹6, which is way cheaper than the ongoing government draws. Moreover, the first prize is a whopping ₹25 lakh!

But none of these draws have been mentioned on the official or authorized websites and channels, which tells me they are fake. No winners have been registered yet, which is yet another red flag.

Please note that the State Government will not be accountable for any of the results published on sites other than the aforementioned ones. It will also not be responsible for handing out the mentioned prizes.

How to Play the Mizoram State Government Lottery?

To legally play the Mizoram State Government Lottery, you must purchase paper tickets directly from authorized local stockists or selling agents, or book tickets online on some of the websites mentioned by the Director of the Lottery Department.

When you buy offline, do not forget to write your name at the back of the ticket as proof of purchase. If you buy it online, most sites will send you a scanned copy and keep the original safe in their office. The transaction window will look something like this:

rajshree-10-lottery-ticket-online

Once you’ve bought your ticket, wait for the draw to be conducted. Rajshree lottery draws are live streamed on YouTube, which means you can watch them as and when they take place. Check the authorized YouTube channel when a draw is about to begin.

Alternatively, you can also visit the capital city of Aizawl, where the draws are conducted in the Lottery Department’s draw hall. Because it is open to public, you wouldn’t have problems with entry.

You must keep in mind that every Mizoram lottery ticket comes with a unique combination of numbers and letters printed on it.

When the organizers spin the physical lottery machine, a certain combination will appear on it. If it matches the one on your ticket in the exact order, you win the first prize. The Department also hands out other prizes for matching lesser combinations.

What Are the Prizes?

The prizes for Mizoram Government Lotteries vary from one draw to another. The prize positions range from 1 to 8 and each position comes with its own draw.

Consolation prizes are handed out only for two draws – the Rajshree Basant Panchami annual draw and the Rajshree 500 monthly draw.

The maximum payout from a Mizoram State Lottery draw is ₹10 lakhs and the minimum is ₹20. Some draws come with a Super Prize apart from the regular prize.

How to Check Mizoram Lottery Results and Claim the Prize?

Mizoram Lottery Results are declared soon after a draw is conducted, usually on the same day.

The winning ticket numbers are published in the official website of the State Lottery Department as well as the Official Gazette, authorized websites, authorized social media handles, and national, regional and local newspapers of wide circulation.

If you have won a prize amount of ₹5,001 or more, the claim should be submitted to the Director, IF&SL in the prescribed format. The application for lottery prize claim is available on the official website of the IF&SL.

You must clearly indicate your name, full postal address, ticket number, name of the draw and the date on which it took place. The original prize ticket must be furnished undamaged. No prizes are offered for torn and lost tickets. The original must accompany a photocopy duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.

Additionally, three passport-size photographs and an affidavit of ownership of the winning ticket from a First Class Magistrate must also be submitted.

Prizes of ₹5,000 or less can be claimed by producing the original winning ticket in front of the stockist or selling agent from whom you purchased the ticket.

You must remember that you would have a window of 45 days from the date of draw to claim your prize beyond which, the Mizoram Lottery Department would not be responsible for non-payment of prize. In some special cases, an extension can be sought, which must not exceed 120 days from the date of draw.

After submission of the claims form, the winning ticket is examined by the Director for authenticity. Tickets found genuine are then sent to the press that printed them for a final examination.

In some cases, mutilated are accepted if the series and ticket number remain intact and authenticity can be established.

Once verified, claims are processed and prizes are disbursed after deducting the necessary taxes and commissions. Winners outside Mizoram are paid via Demand Draft after deducting postal charges and commission on drafts. Winners within Mizoram are paid via cheque.

Is the State Lottery of Mizoram Safe?

Since the State Lottery of Mizoram is government-backed, it can be assumed that it is safe, but that isn’t necessarily the case. All active schemes need the prior approval of the Director, IF&SL before the tickets can be printed and sold.

Approved lottery schemes in the State are sent to the Security Printing Presses authorized by the RBI and IBA. The consignment must clearly indicate the number of tickets to be printed as well as other details such as the conditions of printing, prize information and deductions to be made from prize money, and terms and conditions for marketing.

Ticket sellers are appointed and authorized by the State Government via tenders or other legal and appropriate ways. All draws are conducted under the supervision of the Director himself as well as his representatives.

The State Government also appoints two Judges to further supervise the draws who also record the results and hand them over to a Supervising Officer for authentication.

All this indicates Government lottery in Mizoram runs within a secure ecosystem. However, the truth is, there’s still a lot of room for error. For instance, despite all the measures taken, fake lottery tickets are in circulation because the printed tickets have not been designed with security features such as bar code due.

Moreover, in the recent past, the State Lottery Department was found using printers for lottery tickets that weren’t selected through the mandatory tendering process. Tickets on lotteries, especially those online, were found to be on sale moments before the draw, which is inconvenient.

Yet again, certain draws were conducted based on the total tickets instead of only the sold tickets, which is a gross violation of law. The probability of winning numbers appearing on unsold tickets being high, such draws were inaccurate and unethical.

Amid such anomalies, Mizroam’s State Lottery doesn’t appear to be trustworthy and safe. Therefore, I would not recommend anyone playing. My vote of trust would rather go to international lotteries that come with clearer terms and conditions and pay out better prizes.

The way they are conducted is transparent and convenient. You can buy official tickets to the biggest world lottos online and even bet on the outcome. The best part is every Indian can participate without breaking the law.

A Brief History of Government of Mizoram Lotteries

Government of Mizoram Lotteries started on 21st April 1987. On 29th July the same year, the Directorate of State Lottery was established and later renamed as the Directorate of Institutional Finance and State Lottery (IF&SL) in 2005.

Although the promotion and sale of tickets was briefly banned on 18th March 2010, it was revoked on 3rd January 2011. Ever since, Mizoram has regularly conducted lottery draws in the State.

Currently, all the draws are paper lotteries run by the State Government in association with an authorized distributor firm, M/S Skill Lotto Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The number of winners and prizes vary from one draw to another.

Until 2019, the State Government of Mizoram also ran an online lottery scheme of weekly draws. Started in 2012, it has now been discontinued after it was found to violate the Lotteries (Regulation) Act 1998.

Can I Play Online Lottery from Mizoram?

Currently, you cannot play the Mizoram State Lottery online. Web-based draws in the State have not been conducted since 2019. Presently, all the schemes stand canceled. Paper lotteries, however, are still active.

But, if you want to play online lottery in Mizoram where you pick your own numbers and receive your prizes online, you can opt for international lotteries such as the US Powerball, Mega-Sena, EuroMillions, Mega Millions and the likes. These are legal lotteries that run outside India and attract players from all over the world.
