Different Types of Card Games to Gamble on

Before we head over to our list of card games, you must know that there are three different types that can be found at casinos. These card games include the following:

  • Live casino card games
  • Virtual card games
  • Competitive card games

Live casino card games are played against real dealers with real cards and real tables over a video stream. While strategies can be used in many of the card games, these are luck-based types of games that favor the casino. There’s an RTPRTP stands for "Return to Player" and is a percentual value that all casino games have. It shows you how much you are expected to win in the long run. A game with a 96% RTP is for instance expected to return ₹96 for every ₹100 staked. telling you how much you’re likely to win in the long-run.

Virtual card games are similar to live casino card games in the way that they’re based on luck and may have strategies that can be used to reach a maximum RTP. However, these card games are played only against the computer in a virtual environment where no real people are present.

Competitive card games are skill-based games that are played competitively against other players. They have a factor of luck in them, but in the long run it will always be the most talented people that win. Get good and you can earn a lot of money gambling on these card games.

3 Card Poker is a simple card game best enjoyed in a live casino, but also available as a virtual game. The rules are very easy. The goal of this card game is to get a better 3-card hand than the dealer. A game round is played out like this:

  • You place an ante bet to receive 3 cards.
  • These cards can now be played or folded.
  • If you play the cards, an additional bet is placed.
  • The dealer then receives 3 cards.
  • Your hand is now compared with the dealer’s.

If you have a higher-ranking hand, you win on your ante and play bet and if you don’t, you lose. The exception is if the dealer doesn’t qualify. Unless the dealer has Queen high or better, you only receive a payout for your ante bet while the stake is returned for your play bet. If you make a straight, set or straight flush, you also receive a small bonus payout.

Many providers have created live casino versions of this card game, including Evolution Gaming, Playtech and Ezugi. With the latter, the card game is known as Teen Patti.

Teen Patti is one of the most famous card games in India along with Rummy and Andar Bahar. It is most commonly played in a live casino, but can also be enjoyed virtually as well as in a competitive format. The rules vary greatly between the competitive format and the other two.

In live casinos, this card game can be found by Ezugi and Super Spade Games where it exists in two versions. One version is exactly the same as the 3 Card Poker game explained above. The other version, known as Teen Patti 20-20 is similar. The difference is that you bet on two sides as opposed to getting a hand yourself. You simply bet on the side that will get the best 3-card hand.

In a competitive format, Teen Patti can be quite a complex card game even if it shares similarities with its live casino counterpart; the best 3 card hand wins. Players can choose to view or not to view their cards. The advantage of playing blind is being able to stay in the pot for a cheaper price than players that have seen their cards. The disadvantage, of course, is that you don’t know your hand strength.

Another unique feature of competitive Teen Patti is that this famous card game got sideshows. This means that two players can compare their hands in secret. The one with the worst hand must fold. There are many tips on how to win in Teen Patti, but at the end of the day, it’s all about folding at the right times, bluffing at the right times and maximizing the pot size when you have the best hand.

Played online, the rules of the game are usually the same, but enjoyed with friends and family there’s a huge number of Teen Patti variations to try out.

Andar Bahar

Andar Bahar game
  • RTP: 97% – 97.85%
  • Max win (main game): 2x
  • Max win (side bets): 120x
  • Side bets: 3
  • Min bet: ₹100
  • Max bet: ₹1,000,000
  • Cards dealt: 1 – 49
  • Provider: Playtech
  • Virtual card game:
  • Live casino card game:
  • Competitive card game:

Andar Bahar is about as basic as it gets, but that hasn’t stopped it from being one of India’s most played and famous card games. It’s all about guessing which side that will match a randomly pulled joker card first – the Andar or the Bahar side. This is how a game round plays out:

  • A random card is turned up for everyone to see it.
  • Players place their bets on either Andar or Bahar.
  • One at a time, cards are dealt face up, alternating between the Andar and Bahar side.
  • As soon as a card matches the first turned up card, a winning side is crowned.

Gambling on this card game can be done virtually or on a live casino platform. With the latter option, we would recommend Playtech as a provider for their superior side bets and interface.

Blackjack

  • Max win (main game): 2.5x
  • Max win (side bets): 100x
  • Side bets: 2
  • Min bet: ₹100

Probably the most gambled on card game online, Blackjack stands out for its incredibly high RTP. If you play the game optimally, there is only one casino card game with a similar or higher return – Video Pokers.

Blackjack is one of the more complex card games on our list as several choices can be made in the game:

  • You can hit as many cards as you like and stand whenever you like.
  • The stake of a hand can be doubled at the cost of receiving one and only one card.
  • Pairs (two identical cards) can be split into two separate hands.
  • A hand can be insured if the dealer shows an Ace.

The goal of this popular gambling game with cards is to beat the dealer by getting the best hand value without going over 21. You are initially dealt two cards and get to see one of the dealer’s. With these cards, you must make one or several of the above decisions.

Once the decisions are made, the dealer’s second card will be revealed. The dealer must also follow strict rules which the player isn’t bound by. It can never stand at a hand value of 16 or less, but must always hit a card until 17 or better is reached. At 17 or better, the dealer must stand and cannot take any more cards.

There are many creative versions of Blackjack to be found at online casinos, so if you’re looking for interesting card games to gamble on, this one is highly recommended. You can find the card game versions as virtual games as well as on the live casino platform provided by Evolution Gaming.

Best described as a seemingly simple card game somewhat difficult to get the hang of, Baccarat has been around since the 15th century. It can be played virtually, but is most commonly enjoyed as a live casino card game where it can be found on more or less every live casino platform.

Similar to Andar Bahar, Baccarat is a guessing game with two sides. It plays out like this:

  • A bet is either placed on “Banker”, “Player” or “Tie”.
  • Two cards are dealt to the Banker side as well as the Player side.
  • Depending on the card values, a third card is given to one or both sides.
  • The card value of the Banker is compared with the Player – the highest one wins.

While the gameplay of this fast-paced and famous casino card game is straight forward, the difficulty lies in understanding when the Banker and the Player receives a third card. Not knowing this by heart might make it hard to enjoy the game. Don’t worry though; there are explanations included at the casinos.

Provided by Ezugi and played live with a real dealer, 32 Cards is quite a unique card game to gamble on, yet a very easy one. The game revolves around four empty spaces and the goal is to pick the one that will receive the highest score based on a single card that is dealt to each one of them.

To make the casino card game a bit more interesting, all of the four spaces already have an initial score of 8, 9, 10 and 11. Additionally, only 32 cards are used in the game; all 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s, Js, Qs and Ks. The value of these cards goes from 6 to 13.

Should the empty space of 8 receive a Queen, its total score would be 20 (8 + 12) and if the empty space of 10 would receive a 6, its total score would be 16. All of the spaces come with their own payouts ranging from 1:1 to 11:1. Unfortunately, this gambling game with cards comes with a very low RTP. Therefore, it may not be worth spending too much time with it.

Many of our listed card games are simple, but out of all gambling games with cards this one takes the price. All you have to do is to guess if a randomly pulled card will have a higher, lower or equal value to 7.

There are two side bets available to give a little more spice to the game, but these are quite basic. You can place a bet on the color of the pulled card (red or black) as well as if its value will be odd or even.

While there isn’t anything wrong with enjoying mindless card games, the RTP of Lucky 7 is very disappointing. At 92.31% it is not only lower than the majority of card games at casinos, but lower than the majority of all gambling games.

Casino Hold’em is a popular card game based off Texas Hold’em – one of the world’s most played competitive poker games. It exists as a virtual version, but is most commonly played on the live casino platform provided by Evolution Gaming. Here, a side bet that can trigger a life changing jackpot of more than ₹30 Crore is available. Jackpots like this are very rare to find among gambling games with cards.

In terms of gameplay, the goal of this card game is to beat the dealer by getting a better 5-card poker hand than him or her. To create your poker hand, you must always use 2 cards that are dealt to you along with 3 out of 5 community cards that are dealt in the middle of the table. This is how a game round plays out:

  • An ante bet is placed to receive 2 cards.
  • The dealer also receives 2 cards which are dealt face down.
  • Based on your cards, you can either fold or place another bet to play.
  • If you play, 5 cards are dealt in the middle of the table.
  • Your hand and the dealer’s hand are now compared.

In difference to many of our listed card games, payouts from the main game can go fairly high in Casino Hold’em – up to 100 times your bet amount can be won. This is because you receive bonus payment for making certain hands, such as a straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush and royal flush.

Caribbean Stud is almost identical to the above-described Casino Hold’em. It’s a 5-card poker game where you aim to beat the dealer by scoring the best hand. Payouts are similar and this casino card game too comes with a massive jackpot prize that can be won by placing a side bet.

However, in favor of this card game, gambling on Caribbean Stud is more likely to be profitable as the RTP is slightly higher. Another difference is that no community cards are placed in the middle of the table. Instead, you are dealt 5 cards as soon as you place an ante bet, which makes up your hand.

Additionally, you get to see one of the dealer’s 5 cards, which gives you an idea (if only a small one) if you should play your hand or not. In other words, if you think you will beat the dealer or not.

Texas Hold’em

texas holdem poker game

While variants of Texas Hold’em exist as live casino games, this gambling game with cards is mainly a competitive one played against other players. In the early 2000, it found its way in to almost every household and was commonly played in schools and broadcasted on TV. The game was extremely popular and yet today a lot of players enjoy this card game at casinos.

Texas Hold’em is a challenging 5-card poker game where bluffing, reading players and making mathematical correct decisions is essential to become a long-term winner. All players hold 2 cards whereas a total of 5 can be dealt in the middle of the table. To form a poker hand, your dealt cards must be used along with any three from the table.

A game round is played in several turns and look like this:

  1. Forced bets are placed to form a pot.
  2. All players receive 2 cards.
  3. Betting and folding takes place.

  6. 1 additional middle card is turned up (the turn).

  8. 1 last middle card is turned up (the river).

Omaha

Omaha card game

Omaha is a competitive card game which is very similar to the above-described Texas Hold’em. The main difference is that 4 cards are dealt to each player instead of 2. However, to form a hand, players must still only use 2 of their own cards while using 3 out of the 5 that are dealt on the table. Some would argue that this makes this card game a bit more complicated than Texas Hold’em.

In Omaha there is also a unique game mode known as Hi/Lo. This means that every pot is split between two hands; the one that contains the lowest 5 cards as well as the one that ranks the highest. The same player can with both parts of the pot.
