The Game in Short

Mega Baccarat plays similarly to traditional Baccarat. The goal is to guess if a position known as the ‘banker’ or a position known as the ‘player’ will receive the highest card value. Two cards are dealt to both sides and under certain conditions, a third one is dealt as well.

The card values are added up, but only the last digit will count as the result. For instance, if 8 and 9 are dealt, the sum would be 17, but only 7 would be considered as the score. Aces are valued at 1, 10’s and face cards at 0 and 2 – 9 at their respective values.

In addition to betting on the ‘banker’ and the ‘player’, it is possible to place a bet on the outcome being a tie. There are also two side bets in the game known as ‘banker pair’ and ‘player pair’ where you’re betting that the two first cards dealt to either the ‘banker’ or the ‘player’ will be the same.

Mega Baccarat’s Unique Features

On every game round, a random win multiplier of x2 – x100 is added to all bet positions. Two dice are then rolled and if the sum of the dice is either 8 or 9, the win multipliers remain. If not, they are removed.

In other words, whenever the dice roll a sum of either 8 or 9, the payouts from your bets will be multiplied by random value ranging from x2 – x100. That’s the unique twist to Mega Baccarat; it’s as simple as that!

However, in order to make up for the increased potential payouts in the game, a 20% fee is charged on every bet you place. Thus, if you bet R20, you would be charged an extra R4, but only the R20 bet would account for any payouts.

Payouts

The payouts in Mega Baccarat are as follows:

• Player: 1:1 – 100:1
• Banker: 1:1 – 100:1
• Tie: 8:1 – 800:1
• Player Pair: 10:1 – 1,000:1
• Banker Pair: 10:1 – 1,000:1

The leftmost value for each bet position is what you get paid when no win multiplier applies to the game round. For instance, a bet on the player would pay 1:1 if you win, which is the same as two times the amount you bet. If you bet R20, you would win R40.

The rightmost value is the maximum you can get paid for each bet position, which would happen if the x100 multiplier applies to the game round. For instance, a bet on player pair would pay 1,000:1 with the maximum multiplier, effectively giving you a profit of 1,000 times the amount you bet.

RTP

The RTP and odds in Mega Baccarat are as follows for each bet position:

The odds show you how likely it is for the outcome to occur while the RTP tells you how much of your bets will be returned to you in the long run. A higher RTP means a higher chance of winning.

Mega Baccarat and other Baccarat games have a higher RTP than most casino games (assuming that you bet on ‘player or banker’). They are one of the best products to play at gambling sites if you’re looking for a high chance of profiting. Only Blackjack and a few video pokers and slots have a higher payout percentage.

Fun Factor 

I have never been a huge fan of Baccarat as I find the game to be way too simple for my taste. As Mega Baccarat is very similar to the traditional game, this is not my cup of tea. But if you like simplicity, I do think Mega Baccarat is a decent live dealer game that adds an extra level of excitement via its random win multipliers.

However, I also think that other Baccarat games that have similar win multipliers are more interesting, such as Golden Wealth Baccarat and Lightning Baccarat by Evolution Gaming. I do think that these games have a more exciting way of boosting payouts. This is done via random playing cards receiving random win multipliers on each game round which also multiply by each other.

Strategies

In order to increase your chances of winning, the best strategy in Mega Baccarat is to only bet on the ‘player’ as this has the highest RTP of all bet options. It is the best that is most likely to earn you a profit.

It is not a huge error to place a bet on the ‘banker’ as this outcome is 1.23% more likely to occur than the ‘player’. However, winning banker bets are charged a 5% fee on the amount you bet (in addition to the mega fee of 20%). This actually makes the RTP of this bet slightly lower than that of the ‘player’ even though it is more likely to occur. Thus, it is a worse bet to place.

If you want to maximize your chances of winning, it is always best to avoid betting on tie, player pair and banker pair. However, as these are the bets that can pay the most, you must include them if you want to have a chance at winning a huge amount, which you probably do.

The best money-saving strategy is then to only bet on the banker and player pair and leave out the tie. This is because the tie bet has a noticeably lower RTP of 95% compared to the pair bets of 97%.

It is, however, true that the tie bet is 2.6% more likely to occur than the pair bets. This means that it might be a valid strategy to bet on the tie instead of the pairs if your goal is to keep the volatility as low as possible. In other words, if you want to reduce the risk of too many game rounds occurring where you don’t win, which could lead to a faster decline in your bankroll.

At the end of the day, the way you decide to play Mega Baccarat won’t make any huge difference in your finances. As I normally say, I think it’s best to play the game the way that makes the most sense for you and provides you with the highest level of entertainment.
